WAYMORE FITNESS OFFICIALLY OPENS ITS DOORS WITH RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY

The fitness craze began many years ago. It has spawned many gyms and fitness facilities throughout the country. One local gym Waymore Fitness opened its location at 63 Main Street in New City yesterday, February 27, 2026.

This was a real celebration complete with a variety of foods from local New City restaurants and a tour of the facility. The owners are Brian Estevez and Jeremy Bordador.

“Estevez said, “It’s an exciting day, a big open house, a day full of free classes and free training. We’re going to have a little ribbon cutting coming up at about 2:30. Well, let’s take the tour.”

The tour of the facility started with the cardio section. Most of our cardio we kind of do a little bit and so traditionally we try to mix it up between the grass and these machines, but you still need something to warm up, right?

These days a lot of people go through changing careers. They start out in one and find that it is really not for them, and they find something else that makes them happy and fulfilled. Estevez is one of them. He began in IT and transitioned to fitness. There was a personal reason that got him into it.

“Yeah, so that’s, that was basically how we started. We just wanted to do something different. We wanted to be here for people that needed training and needed something different, but also for the trainers themselves. A lot of personal trainers are overvalued at bigger gyms.”

He said they wanted to create a place that that valued the trainers the way they needed to be done or they should be done, for the work that they’re doing.

“One of the things behind us, we have some kettlebells, basic weights that we use some free weights over here.

You’ll probably see this wall, some dumbbells. This is their traditional weights, Different free weights we could do.”

“We do different stabilization exercises and try and offer a little bit of everything.  We have this area that’s the turf. It’s very fun, you know, kind of explosive. We could do different movements. We have our dumbbells, which are a little bit more traditional free weights over here.” Pointing to the other side of the room.

“We have a typical cable machine doing all of your cable resistance training. At the end, we have a platform to do any kind of power lifting, or big strength movements. We try and cover a little bit of everything.” Estevez explained.

Bordador jumped in, “You start to realize too, like when you’re looking around the gym you might find some of this stuff at home or some of the stuff at your local gym. So, a lot of this stuff we try to teach that you can kind of incorporate yourself in the future, we’re knowledgeable enough to give you what works for you because…

As we were talking a special guest, Judge Scott Ugell entered the conversation announcing that there were doughnuts here. “You put the weight on it forces you to take it off. That’s why it’s like a therapist. You’re fine, you’re cured. They’ll tell you, you have other issues, so you keep coming back.” He said with a smile and a laugh.

“We have a lot of very high sugar fat food coverage for anyone else. This one, you know, we’ll start them up, they’ll walk out, they’ll feel guilty. Yeah throw a little Jewish guilt around. God, I don’t care what it takes.” Ugell said.

Clarkstown Town Supervisor George Hoehmann was there with a big scissor to officially proclaim Waymore Fitness open with a ribbon cutting ceremony. “Good afternoon, folks. We’ll get started in just a minute and we’re going to have a number of speakers and then we’re going to have a countdown and cut the ribbon.

He had everybody, if they could just look out, for pictures we’ve got smiles.

The remaining speeches were short and sweet.

“I’m Deputy County Executive Michael Hoblin. I’m here representing County executive Ed Day. Small business and the lifeblood of our community. We need you. We support you. I’m glad everybody came out here to watch the ribbon cutting and let’s make sure we support all those. Thank you.”

“Bob Axelrod, Clarkstown Councilman, Ward 4, and I’m really excited about this. I mean, fitness centers are coming up all over, but we need one right here on Main Street, 63 South Main Street. So, I wish Brian and Jeremy all the best on this. I was inside there, full workout room, also classes, Pilates, Zumba ad others. So come on down, get yourself in shape.”

“Hi, I’m Ashton Coleman representing New York 17th, Congressional District, Michael Lawler, and it’s my pleasure to, recognize, Brian and, and Waymore business here, in New City and it is a pleasure to introduce you to the district. Thank you.”

John Mulgrew representing Senator Bill Weber, “I’m a lifelong Clarkstown resident, and I’m happy to see another, wonderful business opening up here and happy to be a part of it. Congratulations.”

Hoehmann said that we’re going to hear from Jeremy and Brian, and then we’re going to cut the ribbon.

Estevez went first. “I mean, I just want to say thank you guys for being here. We’ve been doing this for 5 or so years, and we just really appreciate the way that the town comes out to support, a small business like us ever since we’ve opened 4 years ago, but even now, whenever we encounter people from here they’re just excited about a new local business, that’s run by local people that are from Rockland, we just want to be here for you.”

“Yeah, just thank you all for coming. Obviously, thank God, thank my family, thank my team it’s great to be growing up here in this community and actually working with them. Establishing with local businesses around here, so we appreciate everything and hopefully you guys all stop by.” Bordador said.

Officials had some additional statements to make after the ribbon cutting. Unfortunately, the sun decided to photobomb a few of the statements:

George Hoehmann – Clarkstown Supervisor

Bob Axelrod – Ward 4 Clarkstown Councilman

Mike Hoblin – Deputy County Executive

John Mulgrew – Senator Weber’s Chief of Staff

We also wish Waymore Fitness all the luck and great success.
