On December 18, 2025, at approximately 4:40 a.m., New York State Police troopers assigned to the Tarrytown Thruway Barracks responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Interstate 87 southbound, on the Exit 14 acceleration lane of the New York State Thruway, in the town of Clarkstown.
The preliminary investigation by the Troop F Bureau of Criminal Investigation determined that Bravo Nondo, age 45, of Albany, NY, was traveling southbound on I-87 when he stopped his vehicle on the Exit 14 acceleration ramp and exited his 2020 Nissan, walking to the rear of the vehicle for unknown reasons.
A 2019 Nissan operated by Gregg M. Albaum, age 35, of Nanuet, NY, was attempting to enter I-87 south utilizing the Exit 14 acceleration lane and took evasive action to avoid Nondo’s vehicle, which was stopped in the lane, subsequently striking Nondo.
Life-saving measures were administered at the scene; however, Nondo succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Albaum was transported to Nyack Hospital for treatment.
The New York State Attorney General’s Office was notified of the incident and responded.
The investigation remains ongoing. State Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the SP Haverstraw Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 845-344-5300.

State Police are responding to a fatal motor vehicle–pedestrian crash occurring at approximately 4:58 a.m., December 18, 2025, on the Thruway southbound at Exit 14 in the town of Clarkstown, Rockland County.
State Police, fire and EMS are on scene. The Exit 14 acceleration ramp is blocked.
The collision is under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact State Police Haverstraw at 845-344-5300.
