TWU Local 106 and Local 252 Endorse Saritha Komatireddy for Attorney General
NEW YORK – “I am honored to receive the endorsement of TWU Local 106 and Local 252. Every day, transit workers help keep New York moving, often under challenging and dangerous conditions, and they deserve an attorney general who will stand up for their safety and the safety of the riding public. As attorney general, on day one, I will deploy a Transit Crime Strike Force to prosecute offenses committed in the transit systems and remove repeat and violent offenders from our trains and buses. Enforcing the laws will also put money back in New Yorkers’ pockets. Fare evasion has tripled under Attorney General Letitia James, costing New York approximately $1 billion each year. By cracking down on fare evasion, we can recover those lost dollars and invest in our transit systems, transit workers, and safer service for riders. I am proud to have put forward strong transit safety proposals, and I look forward to working with TWU members to make our transit system safer for workers and passengers alike,” said Saritha Komatireddy. Saritha Komatireddy has proposed a series of reforms to improve transit safety across New York.
