New City, NY – Supervisor George Hoehmann and the Town Board officially broke ground today for the Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski Playground and Splash Pad in Central Nyack. The new facility is the first ever municipal playground in Central Nyack, and features a playground and splashpad. It will be located directly across from the Central Nyack Community Center, creating a centralized community gathering space for both indoor and outdoor recreational activities.
The facility is being named in honor of former New York State Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski who obtained $1 million in state funding for this community project demonstrating his commitment to Central Nyack and the Town of Clarktown. The town acquired two residential properties to create the space for the playground. Demolition will occur by the end of this year, followed by site work with a goal of opening for summer 2027.
The Town has made significant infrastructure and recreational improvements in Central Nyack over the past few years. The Community Center was renovated in 2023 with a new roof, renovated gym, and water filtration system. Earlier this year, a community garden was created in the hamlet to provide residents with a shared space to grow fresh produce, connect with neighbors, and promote sustainable, healthy living. With the addition of the new playground and splash pad, Central Nyack’s community spaces have been completely transformed.
Supervisor George Hoehmann on behalf of the entire Town Board said, “The Town Council and I made a commitment to invest in Central Nyack and we have delivered. With the renovations to the Community Center, the creation of a community garden, and the Playground and Splash Pad, Central Nyack now has a full array of community spaces for residents to gather, both indoors and out. I’m extremely proud of the work we’ve done for the community and can’t wait to see the playground open next summer.”
