Tavern Closes For Good In Pearl River After Lease Issues: ‘It Was A Pleasure’

An Irish-American pub that became a gathering place for live music, trivia nights, and traditional Irish sessions has closed its doors in Rockland County.

Uncle Tommy’s Tavern, located at 33 W. Central Ave. in Pearl River, announced on Wednesday, July 15, that it had permanently closed after unsuccessful efforts to reach a lease agreement with the building’s new owners.

“Yesterday Uncle Tommy’s closed its doors for the last time,” the business wrote in a message shared with customers.

The tavern thanked its current and former staff, musicians, dart teams, DJs, karaoke and trivia hosts, and the Pearl River School of Music, which held a traditional Irish Seisiún at the pub every second Sunday for the past six years.

“It was a pleasure watching you for the last 6 years,” the owners wrote.

The owners reserved their biggest thanks for the customers who supported the business over the years.

“Our wonderful customers truly became friends over the years,” they wrote, adding, “The funny stories and the craic will be told for a long time.”

The pub had been known for its steaks, burgers, sandwiches, seafood, and traditional Irish fare, as well as its weekend brunch featuring an Irish breakfast. It also hosted regular live entertainment and community events.
