Taking Aim: Students, Seniors Connect Through Archery
Some Chestnut Ridge seniors will get a chance to hit the bull’s eye when some student archers come for a visit. Student volunteers with Aim for Unity, will host an archery workshop at Artis Senior Living of Chestnut Ridge at 1 p.m., June 29 at the community located at 801 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Chestnut Ridge, NY.
Aim for Unity was founded by Samuel Kim, a nationally ranked archer whose grandmother’s journey with dementia inspired him to create a program that pairs purposeful movement with education, encouragement and intergenerational connection. Participants use special Velcro arrows and adapted equipment, making the activity accessible, engaging and comfortable for those trying archery for the first time.
Research continues to show that physical activity can help support brain resilience and overall well-being and Aim for Unity’s approach offers residents a joyful way to move, focus and share an uplifting experience together.
