State Senate Candidate Joe Rand Endorsed by Sierra Club and New York League of Conservation Voters
Rockland County, N.Y. – Joe Rand, Democratic candidate for state senate in the 38th district, is announcing today that he has been endorsed by Sierra Club and the New York League of Conservation Voters.
“Over the past five years, Joe Rand – first as Trustee and then as Mayor – has helped the Village of Nyack achieve tremendous environmental progress. Under his watch, the village completed a greenhouse gas inventory, adopted an ambitious climate action framework, and transitioned municipal buildings and the village vehicle fleet to clean energy.” Said Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters. “If elected, Joe Rand is committed to securing environmental funding, pursuing climate adaptation planning, and pushing regulations to ensure data centers don’t harm the communities where they are built. For these reasons and more, NYLCV is proud to endorse Joe Rand for the State Senate.”
“Joe Rand has a long record of environmental achievements in his municipality with a proven track record.” Said Harry Vetter, member of the Sierra Club Lower Hudson Group Executive Committee. “He is an outspoken opponent of the Orangetown Data Center. Mr. Rand has firsthand experience as to the high cost or remediation of PFAS chemicals for clean, safe local drinking water. He supports the ban on the manufacture and sale of products with non-essential PFAS chemicals. He is a strong believer in educating people about the choices they have. Joe Rand promises to be the kind of promoter for green, renewable energy which has been sorely needed for the New York State Senate level in this district.”
