On November 24, 2025, at approximately 8:35 p.m., deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office were conducting an active investigation on Sodom Road in the Town of Southeast. During the course of that investigation, the vehicle involved attempted to flee, striking and injuring a deputy.
After being struck, the deputy discharged their service weapon, and the suspect was hit. The suspect sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a medical facility with serious injuries. The deputy was transported to a local hospital, evaluated, and later released.
Following the incident, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office requested the New York State Police to assume the lead role in the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Brewster is actively investigating this incident.
