On July 9, 2026, at approximately 9:16 a.m., troopers out of the Haverstraw barracks responded to a reported single-vehicle motor vehicle collision on the northbound Palisades Interstate Parkway near mile marker 18.6, in the vicinity of Exit 9E, in the Town of Clarkstown.
The preliminary investigation determined that a 2016 Subaru was traveling northbound in the left lane of travel on the Palisades Interstate Parkway when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered onto the eastern shoulder and ultimately collided with the guide rail.
The driver and sole occupant, identified as Joseph T. Wolosz, 67, of Pomona, NY, was extricated from the vehicle by passersby. Emergency responders performed life-saving measures at the scene before he was transported to Montefiore Nyack Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The investigation remains ongoing.
