“This job is about keeping people safe during storms.”

Rob Milone, the current Superintendent of Highways in Clarkstown is facing a challenge to his job by Rob Sambevski who has lived in Clarkstown for 54 years and grew up in New City. This is the town where he built his life and raised his family.
Sambevski, began his campaign with a kickoff event at the Nanuet Restaurant on Thursday March 26, 2026. There was a packed house to hear what he and other elected officials had to say about what he is going to do to improve the roadway infrastructure in Clarkstown.
As usual, the event with the Pledge of Allegiance and this time Al Maroni, Town Supervisor George Hoehmann’s Chief of Staff began the presentations in his stead.
“So, ladies and gentlemen, it’s my honor and privilege to be here, to represent him. He could not be here this evening because of numerous conflicts in terms of schedules. My job tonight is to introduce to you our next superintendent of highways, Mr. Rob Sambevski. Most of you, I hope, know Bob. He’s been a resident in this town for 54 years, worked at the Clarkstown Highway Department for 13 years and has held numerous positions from very low levels all the way up to the top level. That he’s at now and he’s going to go to a higher level in November. We wish him only the best.”
Maroni said that Sambevski is going to be an anchor for the Republican Party in November. He asked everyone to please remember him because without Bob, Clarkstown will not have an efficient operation. He’s efficient. He’s good. He knows what he’s doing. He has a lot of great ideas on how to make the highway department much more efficient. It was at this point he ended his speech and introduced Sambevski. “Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you our next superintendent of highways.”

“Good evening everyone. I grew up here in Clarkstown. I spent the past 13 years working for the highway department, starting as a driver and working my way up the road inspector. I’m truly humbled by the support in this room tonight. It means a lot to me, especially seeing so many lifelong friends and familiar faces. I know some of you might be supporting me simply because of that friendship. I appreciate it more than you know. Tonight, I want to tell you why I believe I am the best choice for Clarkstown Superintendent of Highways.
“In my role as road inspector, I’ve increased the cost-share revenue of the town. My opponent allowed thousands of dollars to be lost because he had no comprehensive cost-share plan. As superintendent, I’ll make sure we pursue every dollar available to help ease the burden on the taxpayer. I will work with Congressman Mike Lawler to get whatever money is available and bring it to our town. When it comes to road maintenance, I propose clear, structured road maintenance strategies because staying ahead of our problems is always better than reacting to them. Right now, we’re doing too much reacting and not planning enough. As Highway Superintendent, I will bring accountability to the office. I will work to maximize revenue, implement a transparent and responsible maintenance plan and make the safety of both residents and workers a top priority, especially during storm season.” Sambevski stated.
He said he’s running because he knows this job and does this job and knows we can do it better. “I also want to thank my family and their support through all this. They’re very important. Thank you everybody for coming.”
Mike Graziano was the next to take center stage. “I know Rob for quite some time, and I’ll tell you now, he’s a man’s man. He’s a gentleman. He’s got the heart of gold, and anytime you call him, he responds, and this is the type of person that we need to lead Clarkstown in the highway department. I hope in November you come out and support the entire party from the Conservative Party line, we’re there. We’ve got to win in November.

“We’ve got to get Bruce, Blakeman in as governor and Mike Lawler, back in as Congressman. It’s very important. Rockland County is the epicenter of the United States, believe it or not, and that seat is big to get Michael back in there. We’ve all got to stick together along with Bill Weber. We’re going to get Brett in there. We’ve got to get straight out of Albany. With this team that we have here with Rob leading the charge, there’s no, there’s no stopping us. In November, come out and vote, support Robert and support all of us.
A little bit more about Sambevski:
He started working at a young age in his family’s business, where he learned responsibility and the value of hard work. He later managed national accounts for a manufacturing and marketing company before starting his own business, which he successfully ran for 20 years. He managed employees, oversaw operations, and made the tough decisions that come with running a company.
After getting married and starting his family, Rob chose to stay closer to home. In 2013, he joined the Clarkstown Highway Department. He began as a driver and machine operator, worked his way up to foreman, and now serves as Clarkstown Road Inspector.
He has worked in the field and in management, and he understands the job from both sides.
Rob cares about Clarkstown and is ready to lead the Highway Department with experience, accountability, and common sense.
