Police: Ghost Gun Displayed During Dispute With Cab Driver

Ramapo Police say a Saturday fare turned dangerous when a Hillcrest man threatened a cab driver with a handgun on Rockland Lane, with a young child standing close by. Officers later recovered an unserialized “ghost gun,” adding to ongoing concerns over privately made firearms without serial numbers.

Police credited the driver for reporting the incident quickly, allowing detectives to identify and arrest the suspect. The man, whose name was not released, was charged with weapon possession and menacing and was arraigned with bail set at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.

Authorities are reminding residents that information about illegal firearms can be reported anonymously.
