PEARL RIVER, NY — March 9, 2026 — Members of the Pearl River community are rallying around a local family after the tragic death of their daughter in a Philadelphia apartment last month.
Anne “Annie” Tso, 27, a native of Pearl River and daughter of Andy and Sandy Tso, the longtime owners of Ichiban Restaurant on North Main Street, was found dead in her Philadelphia residence on Feb. 27 with a gunshot wound to the head, Philadelphia police reported. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police in Philadelphia said the killing stemmed from an argument and that 30‑year‑old Gabriela Flora‑Duncan has been charged with murder and possession of an instrument of a crime in connection with the incident. A firearm and a knife were recovered at the scene, authorities reported.
Tso grew up in Pearl River, graduating from Pearl River High School and later attending the Rochester Institute of Technology. She most recently worked at L3Harris Technologies and was living in Philadelphia at the time of her death.
Friends and neighbors described Tso as a kind, intelligent, and caring person who had a gift for making others feel welcome and supported. A GoFundMe fundraiser created to assist the family with immediate expenses had raised well over its goal by March 10, reflecting a strong outpouring of support from across the community.
To honor her life, community members organized a candlelight vigil outside the restaurant. Residents were invited to bring flowers, candles, cards, or other remembrances, with the vigil scheduled to offer a space for neighbors and friends to mourn together.
The loss has deeply affected many in Pearl River, where the Tso family has been a familiar presence for more than two decades. Local supporters say they hope the community’s love and support will help the family in their time of grief.
