| Dear Lifesaving Partner: Today, New York Blood Center (NYBC) and New Jersey Blood Services (NJBS) declared an unprecedented second blood emergency this summer, the first time in our history that we have declared two blood emergencies in a single summer. Extreme heat, severe storms, widespread power outages, and ongoing storm cleanup have all contributed to our blood inventory falling to approximately 2 days of supply, the lowest level since the COVID-19 pandemic. We need your help: your leadership and voice carry tremendous influence within our communities, and you can inspire countless people to roll up their sleeves and save lives. A single donation can save up to three lives Host a blood drive with NYBC/NJBS: If you have the space and 30+ willing donors, we can take care of the rest. Blood cannot be manufactured or imported. It can only come from generous volunteer donors, and every donation has the potential to save multiple lives. Our communities have always responded when patients need us most. If we mobilize quickly, we can rebuild the blood supply and ensure hospitals have the blood they need for trauma victims, cancer patients, mothers experiencing childbirth complications, and countless others who rely on lifesaving blood transfusions every day.
