A quiet Nyack neighborhood was shaken this week after a couple was found dead in their home on 290 North Midland Avenue, in what authorities are calling an apparent murder‑suicide.
According to the Orangetown Police Department, the incident occurred on November 1, 2025. Detectives report that 52‑year‑old Jeffrey M. Wright fatally shot his 55‑year‑old wife, Anita Lam‑Wright, with a shotgun. He then went to a different part of the home and ended his own life with the same weapon. A shotgun was recovered at the scene.
Police say detectives are continuing their investigation and are requesting that anyone with relevant information contact the Orangetown Detective Bureau at (845) 359‑2121. The department added that no additional information will be released unless there is a public need.
Neighbors expressed shock over the tragedy. “We never expected something like this in our neighborhood,” said one resident. “It’s heartbreaking for everyone who knew them.”
