FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

| Washington, D.C. – 11/17/2025… Today, Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) issued a statement regarding the United Nations Security Council’s vote to advance the second phase of President Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan. Twelve countries voted in favor of the resolution with Russia and China abstaining. The resolution authorizes the creation of an International Stabilisation Force (ISF) to demilitarize Gaza and begin the process of decommissioning weapons held by Hamas. “The international community took an important step today towards stability and security in Gaza, with a real opportunity to prevent terrorism from taking a long-term hold. A stabilization force, properly constructed and mission-focused, will help us secure peace and safety for Israelis and Palestinians alike,” said Congressman Lawler. Congressman Lawler is one of the most bipartisan members of Congress and represents New York’s 17th Congressional District, which is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties. He was rated the most effective freshman lawmaker in the 118th Congress, 8th overall, surpassing dozens of committee chairs. |
