Job Description

The Rockland County Department of Health is seeking a candidate to work as a Public Health Aide supporting the Women, Infants, and Children program. The Public Health Aide will support Rockland County Women, Infants, and Children participants through nutrition education, community outreach, and participant engagement activities. Responsibilities include providing basic information about Women, Infants, and Children services and other public health programs, promoting preventive health practices, responding to participant inquiries, distributing educational materials, and referring individuals to appropriate Department of Health staff or community resources.

The Public Health Aide will assist with outreach activities, health fairs, educational events, group discussions, and other public health initiatives. The position will maintain current knowledge of available programs and services, prepare basic reports and records, and communicate effectively with participants, families, community members, and partner agencies.

The position requires the ability to follow established procedures, maintain basic records and documentation, and prepare basic oral and written reports as needed.

The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level administrator.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • No formal education, training, or experience is required.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment and throughout the duration of employment in this title is required.

Other Requirements and Information:

  • Candidates should have the ability to explain information clearly to individuals and groups and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Candidates should be able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with community members, agencies, and the general public.
  • Candidates should be able to follow oral and written instructions and prepare basic reports and maintain basic records.
  • Working knowledge of available community health resources and public health services will be demonstrated during the probationary period.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary and benefits are competitive with the public sector market including but not limited to the following:

  • $20.30 Hourly (as of 9/1/2026)
