Politico reports that Davidson holds $100K+ in Amazon stock while Rockland Co. has an active contract with them, a direct violation of her ethics agenda

OSSINING, NY – Last week, Beth Davidson rolled out her “Trust and Transparency Agenda,” an ethics proposal she claimed would clean up corruption in Washington. This morning, Politico caught her in direct violation of it.

Davidson’s plan included a rule explicitly banning members of Congress from holding financial interests in companies with active contracts with the federal government. However, Politico reported that what Davidson is calling for, she is actively violating at the county level. Davidson holds over $100,000 in Amazon stock while at the same time, Rockland County — where Davidson serves as a legislator — has an active contract with Amazon.

Instead of owning up to her hypocrisy, Davidson’s campaign tried to make excuses.

Cait Conley’s response to Beth Davidson’s ethics proposal violation:

“Corruption is ruining American democracy, and we have to stop it, from enacting term limits to banning members of Congress from trading stocks or becoming lobbyists, to ending Citizens United and getting dark money out of politics. But we can’t do that by nominating a career political operative like Beth Davidson, who pretends to take these issues on but then does the opposite. She already violated her own ethics proposal.”

About Cait Conley:

Cait Conley is a fourth-generation Hudson Valley native and the daughter of a postal worker and a construction worker. Cait served 16 years as an active duty Army officer, deploying six times to keep Americans safe and later led counterterrorism efforts on the White House National Security Council and at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Throughout her career, Cait has been called upon to solve the toughest problems and fix things that are broken. That’s why Cait is running for Congress — to fix a broken system and fight for a better future for New Yorkers.
