ROCKLAND POST DESK
By Cecilia Levine,
A SWAT standoff caused by a rock-throwing man who shattered a window then climbed inside of the building ended with him being ushered out restrained on a stretcher in Rockland County Tuesday evening, March 31, Monsey Scoop reports.
The incident began at approximately 5:45 p.m. at 94 North Main St., in Spring Valley, where officers arrived to find the individual had broken the window, climbed inside, and barricaded himself in the apartment while refusing to come out.
As the situation escalated, additional resources including the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office K-9 units, FBI Task Force, and the Rockland County REACT Team were called in, Monsey Scoop said. A heavy police presence remained on scene for several hours as negotiators worked to resolve the standoff.
After nearly three hours, the individual surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident before being transported to a local hospital for evaluation, according to Monsey Scoop. A second person was also taken into custody after crossing police tape and refusing to comply with officers’ orders, Monsey Scoop reported.
The news outlet, comprised primarily of first responders, shared footage throughout the ordeal to Instagram.
