Congers man illed in Route 303 Crash; Police Cite Ongoing Safety Concerns

WEST NYACK — A 41-year-old Congers man was killed Wednesday evening, Jan. 14, after being struck by two vehicles on Route 303, according to the Clarkstown Police Department.

Police said the crash occurred around 5:25 p.m. near Mavis Discount Tire at 81 North Route 303. Detective Norman Peters said the preliminary investigation determined that the victim, Joseph Signorini of Congers, was walking within the southbound lane when he was struck by a vehicle. He was then struck by a second vehicle traveling in the northbound lane.

Signorini was pronounced dead at the scene by medical first responders.

Both drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with police. No charges have been announced at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Route 303 near Bobby Lane was closed between approximately 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. as officers conducted the initial investigation. Traffic was diverted during that time.
