Congers Lake Trailway Repairs To Begin – Full Access Around Lake To Be Restored
New City, NY – Today, Supervisor George Hoehmann and the Town Council were proud to announce repair work has begun for Congers Lake Trailway. The trailway has been closed, from location markers 47-54, since April 2026 due to a number of support pilings separating from the decking. Additional supports will now be added to support the boardwalk decking from underneath.
Town engineers worked to obtain the necessary determinations from the New York State DEC. Throughout the summer our engineers developed a construction plan and the town recently completed the bid process for the work.
The Town’s contractor has commenced work this week and has a 30 day contract to complete the work. The expected date of completion is estimated to be mid-November. Once completed, residents will be able to make a full loop around the lake again when using the trailway.
Supervisor George Hoehmann said, “We’re thrilled to have the Congers Lake Trailway restored for residents to have full access around the lake once again. The Congers Lake Trailway is one of the crown jewels of our park system and we’re incredibly happy that residents will be able to fully enjoy all it has to offer again in the fall season. Thank you to all the town staff that worked diligently to make this happen.”
