A statement from Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C-Deerpark) in response to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s FY 2026-27 executive budget presentation for New York state.
“It is good to see a $1.7 billion increase in child care funding and no proposed tax increases for middle-class families included in Gov. Hochul’s 2026-27 executive budget proposal. However, there are still many significant, systemic issues statewide that were not immediately addressed but need to be in order to improve New Yorkers’ lives and curb outmigration.
“Improving the cost of living statewide, expanding health care for all New Yorkers, ensuring families have access to reliable child care services, creating more educational opportunities for our students and supporting our veterans and men and women in uniform all start with spending money in the right places. Another bloated, out-of-touch state budget proposal like this one is not in the best interest of New York individuals, families, schools and businesses seeking financial relief and a brighter future.”
Assemblyman Brabenec represents the 98th District, which includes the city of Port Jervis, the towns of Deerpark, Greenville, Mount Hope, Wawayanda, Minisink, Warwick, Tuxedo and portions of the towns of Monroe and Ramapo. For more information, please visit his Official Website.
