UNDATED — The Boulders struck out 20 times at the plate and left 17 men on base
but still rallied for their ninth comeback win of the season, 11-7 in 10 innings Saturday
night at Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson, NJ, levelling the four-game series at a
victory apiece.
New York (11-7) fell behind 3-0 in the second inning, then erupted for five runs in the
top of the third behind RBI singles from SS Santino Rosso, LF John Schroeder, and
3B Norris McClure, while 1B Dan Tauken highlighted the outburst with a two-run
double.
New Jersey (10-7) closed the gap to 5-4 in the fifth before the Boulders made it 6-4
in the eighth on C Jack Scanlon’s RBI double.
RHP Tyler Vail (W, 2-0) got tagged for two runs in the bottom of the ninth but wound
up the winner when his teammates put up another five spot in the top of the 10th; RF
Aaron Simmons and Schroeder both had ribby singles before CF Julian Boyd
delivered a game-sealing three-run double for his first RBIs of the season.
LHP Andrew Armstrong gave up an unearned run in the bottom of the 10th before
eventually retiring the final two Jackals on a strikeout and grounder to first with two
men on.
Game three of the wraparound set is scheduled for 2:05pm EDT tomorrow (Sunday)
afternoon.
