After a heartbreaking 9th inning loss on Wednesday, the Boulders were hoping to take the series from the Jackels. Unfortunately, this was not to be the case.

The Jackels got off to a first inning one run lead on an RBI doble by Felix Stevens. The Boulders only sent three batters to the plate in each of the first three innings.

The top of the third saw starting pitcher Garrett Peters get clobbered for four runs on 2 – 2 run homeruns giving the Jackels a 5 – 0 lead. The Boulders bats remained silent until the bottom of the 6th when Julian Boyd led off the inning with a triple. Two batters later Fritz Genther hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Boyd.

The boulders bullpen was able to hold NJ to no runs in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings while adding two more runs the 7th and 8th innings combined. It looked like the Boulders might be mounting a comeback. In the top of the 9th New Jersey added two more runs on Luis Encarnacion’s second 2 run homerun.

The Boulders were unable to score in the bottom of the 9th. Final score NJ 7 Boulders 3.

The Boulders now go to NJ for a four game series against the Jackels.
