Boulders Even Series on Walk-Off Win: Schroeder Homer Caps Four-Run Ninth

Pomona, NY – Boulders LF John Schroeder smashed a walk-off three-run homer with
two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday afternoon at Clover Stadium,
stunning the four-time defending Frontier League champion Québec Capitales, 9-7, and tying the three-game series.


New York (16-12) cut into a 2-0 deficit on an RBI fielder’s choice by 1B Norris McClure in
the bottom of the fourth, then trailed 3-1 in the fifth before CF Julian Boyd scored on a
passed ball.


Québec (21-7) went up 5-2 in the top of the sixth inning on a two-run homer by CF
Chavez Young, only to see the Boulders tie the score in the bottom of the frame on
McClure’s three-run shot.


The home team fell behind again — 6-5 in the top of the seventh — and trailed 7-5
after the visitors scored one final time in the ninth, but SS Fritz Genther closed the gap
to 7-6 with a one-out solo blast and set the the stage for Schroeder to deliver the red,
white, and blue’s second walkoff win of the year.


The rubber match tomorrow (Thursday) night is set for a 7:00pm EDT first pitch as the
Boulders look to take a series from Québec for the first time since May, 2023.
Also of note:

  • 2B Kyle Hess (1st inning walk) reached base for the 12th straight game since returning
    from IR
  • RF Aaron Simmons (1-for-5) extended his hitting streak to 5 games (9-for-21 / .429)
