Pomona, NY May 13 — The Boulders lost the middle of their three-game series at Clover
Stadium to the Ottawa Titans on Wednesday night, 6-5, after leaving the bases loaded
in the bottom of the eighth inning.
New York (3-2) grabbed a third inning lead on LF Dan Tauken’s RBI single, then fell
behind when Ottawa (3-2) got solo homers in the fourth and fifth off RHP Emmett Bice
(ND / 4.2 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 4 K).
The Boulders didn’t stay down for long, as RF Aaron Simmons (3-for-5) went deep for
the second night in a row, with a go-ahead two-run blast in the bottom of the fifth to
put the home team back in front, 3-2.
It would be 4-2 after 3B Norris McClure scored on an errant throw in the sixth, but the
Titans grabbed the lead for good with four runs in the seventh before the Boulders got
a run back in the bottom half on 1B Jason Agresti’s RBI single.
