Holden and Dolan join launch of Democrats for Saritha
NEW YORK, NY — Former New York City Council Member Bob Holden and former Democratic congressional candidate Marty Dolan today announced their joint endorsement of Saritha Komatireddy for New York Attorney General, crossing political lines to support the former federal prosecutor and her campaign to refocus the Attorney General’s Office on public safety, the rule of law and accountability.

Holden, a longtime Queens civic leader who served in the City Council, and Dolan, who ran for Congress as a Democrat, come from different political backgrounds but share concerns about the direction of New York and the need for independent leadership in the Attorney General’s Office. Both pointed to Komatireddy’s prosecutorial experience and commitment to making public safety a central priority of the office.

In a joint statement, Holden and Dolan said:
“We come from different political backgrounds, but we are united by something far more important than party: New York needs an Attorney General who will put public safety and the rule of law first. We have watched politics consume an office that should be focused on protecting New Yorkers, fighting crime, and holding powerful interests accountable. The consequences are too serious to ignore, and this election is too important to simply vote along party lines.
“Saritha Komatireddy has spent her career taking on terrorists, drug cartels, violent criminals, and corruption as a federal prosecutor. She has the experience, independence, and toughness this office demands. We may not all be Republicans, but we are putting party aside because New York needs a prosecutor as Attorney General. That is why we are proud to stand together and endorse Saritha Komatireddy.”

“I’m grateful to have the support of Bob and Marty,” said Komatireddy. “They have both demonstrated a willingness to challenge the status quo and speak up when they believe New York can do better. I respect that independence, and I’m honored that they have placed their confidence in me. As Attorney General, I will bring that same willingness to ask hard questions, take on difficult fights, and demand results from an office with enormous responsibility to the people of New York.”

Komatireddy is a former federal prosecutor in the Eastern District of New York and former Chief of Staff at the Drug Enforcement Administration. During her career as a prosecutor, she handled cases involving terrorism, international narcotics trafficking, violent crime, cybercrime and public corruption.
