Illusionist Rob Lake is lighting up the Broadhurst Theatre with Rob Lake Magic with Special Guests The Muppets, marking his first official Broadway performing debut. The show combines Lake’s signature large-scale illusions with the humor, heart, and chaos of The Muppets, creating a one-of-a-kind family experience just in time for the holidays. As any magician will do he interacted with the audience to make them feel that they are apart of the show not just viewers of it.
Joining Lake on stage are Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, and other beloved characters, this is the Muppets’ first performing appearance on Broadway, a long-awaited debut that brings these iconic characters to a major theatre stage for the very first time. “When they appear onstage, everyone becomes a child again — that’s real magic,” Lake said.
The production also honors the golden age of stage illusion, featuring historic magician posters of legends like P.T. Selbit, Horace Goldin, and Carter the Great, celebrating the craft’s roots. Among the many highlights are Lake’s vanishing acts, levitations, and impossible escapes, all staged with Broadway-scale lighting, music, haze, fire, and other special effects that fill the Broadhurst with wonder.
The audience response was overwhelmingly positive, with fans praising the show’s blend of spectacle and nostalgia. The combination of Lake’s precise illusions and The Muppets’ timeless charm makes for a fun, upbeat evening for all ages.
