This serves as an update to our initial post last night regarding the active investigation.
On October 30, 2025, at approximately 6:20 PM, the Haverstraw Police Department received reports of shots fired in the area of the Mobil Gas Station on Route 202 in Garnerville.
Responding officers quickly located a male subject, identified as Capernicus Yodweyone (28) of Garnerville, NY, in the parking lot of the Foremost Shopping Center standing next to a vehicle in close proximity to a shotgun.
The investigation revealed that the subject, while standing outside of his vehicle, fired multiple rounds from a shotgun directly into the unoccupied vehicle he had been operating. Officers immediately took the subject into custody on scene and transported him to the Haverstraw Police Department. The weapon was recovered.
The defendant was charged with reckless endangerment in the 1st degree, a class D felony. He remains in custody awaiting arraignment.
It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
