SUFFERN, NY — A fight between students at Suffern High School on Friday, March 6, 2026 resulted in the arrest of a 16‑year‑old and the hospitalization of a school staff member, Ramapo Police said.
Police responded around 11 a.m. after reports of a physical altercation involving two students inside the school. According to officials, school staff and administrators intervened to break up the fight, but during the effort to stop the confrontation, one of the students assaulted a staff member.

The injured staff member was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Police have not released details on the nature of the injury but confirmed the individual required medical attention.
In a statement to media, school officials emphasized that student and staff safety remains a top priority and that the district continues to work closely with law enforcement on the investigation. Parents picking up students Friday expressed shock and concern over the incident.
