On March 5, 2026, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced the arrest of Yamil Caraballo, 35, from the Village of West Haverstraw. Investigators from the DA’s Narcotics Task Force and U.S. Postal Inspectors seized about 1.2 pounds of fentanyl during the operation.
Authorities say Caraballo is accused of receiving fentanyl packages through the mail since December 2025. He’s been charged in Rockland County District Court with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, an A-1 felony that carries a possible 8 to 20 years in state prison.
The investigation involved several agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and local police departments from Suffern, Ramapo, and Haverstraw. Officials credited the teamwork for removing the drugs from circulation and strengthening community safety.
